Steps to Transfer Your Domain to Gatehills

Transferring your domain to Gatehills is a straightforward process. Follow these steps:

Complete Your Domain Transfer

  1. Start by transferring your domain from your previous registrar to Gatehills. Ensure you have unlocked your domain and obtained the authorization code from your old registrar.
  2. Log in to your Gatehills account using your credentials. Navigate to Transfer a Domain.
  3. Write your Domain and enter or select the TLD from the dropdown. Once complete, click the Confirm Domain button.

  1. The next panel to complete is Enter Authorization Codes. Input the authorization code you obtained from your old registrar. Once complete, click the Continue button.

  1. The third panel will be the Contact and Payment Information. Input you details then confirm your transfer. Once all are completed, this will initiate your Domain transfer to Gatehills.
  2. Check your domain status from Manage Domain list which can be seen from your dashboard.

Note:

✅Standard Timeline:

  • ICANN guidelines state that domain transfers can take up to 5 days after the gaining registrar (the one you're moving to) submits the transfer request to the registry.

  • Many transfers complete within 1 to 3 days, especially if both registrars are efficient.

🕒 Factors That Can Speed It Up:

  • You approve the transfer quickly (via email or dashboard).

  • Your domain is unlocked before initiating the transfer.

  • You provide the correct authorization (EPP) code promptly.

  • There’s no 60-day lock in place (more on that below).

⚠️ Factors That Can Slow It Down:

  • Your domain was recently registered or transferred — ICANN enforces a 60-day lock after both.

  • Incorrect or missing EPP/Auth code.

  • Domain is locked at the current registrar.

  • Dispute or hold on the domain (e.g., due to payment issues, expired registration, etc.).
